Elyse Umeda
Elyse Umeda-Korth was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, but her skills as a high school basketball player eventually took her to the opposite end of the U.S., where she’d become a four-year letter winner at Princeton and a member of the 2006 Ivy League championship team. After her playing days, Elyse served as an assistant basketball coach at Samford University before discovering and devoting her energy to training and coaching CrossFit.
The 5’2” Umeda-Korth finished 11th overall in her debut appearance at the CrossFit Games in 2010 and 23rd in 2011. In recent years, she has competed mostly in team events, leading Honolulu’s own CrossFit 808 to back-to-back Top 10 finishes at the Games. In 2017, Elyse took a year off from training to welcome her first child with her husband and 808 teammate John Korth.
