Monster Hip Thruster Bench

The Rogue Monster Hip Thruster Bench is a padded crossmember attachment designed specifically for use within the 43” space of a Monster Series rack or rig. Shipped fully assembled, the bench can be installed much like a set of J-cups, as the user simply slides the included pins through the rack uprights, hinges the pad down, and locks the attachment into place with the 1” Monster detent pin. After a workout, the bench is equally simple to take down and stow.

We developed the Monster Hip Thruster Bench to give athletes a stable and comfortable platform for performing hip thrusts in a space efficient, rack-mounted format. Each unit is constructed from a 2x 4" 11-gauge steel tube that's welded to 1/4" thick formed end plates. Around the tube is a U-shaped, vinyl-covered pad that measures 2.25" thick on the top and 1.5" thick on the sides—offering additional protection from contact with any hard steel surfaces as you train.

  • 1Designed Specifically for Hip Thrusts

As an increasingly popular lower body strength training exercise, the hip thrust has been proven effective for developing the glutes (as well as the hamstrings and quads) with far less loading on the spine than traditional barbell squats. This also makes it an excellent option for rehabilitation work. In the movement, the barbell is placed across the hips as the athlete sits on the floor. With each upward thrust of the hips, the shoulders also elevate and level out, which is where the Monster Hip Thruster Bench comes in—providing leverage and padded protection through each rep.

  • 2Easy Set-Up in Monster Rack/Rig

Compatible ONLY with Rogue Monster Series units, the Monster Hip Thruster Bench offers space efficiency and convenience for any size gym, as the attachment ships fully assembled and can be quickly installed and taken down as you move through a regimen. The bench is attached to the uprights in the 43” space of the rack/rig much like a set of J-cups, as users need only slide the included pins through the uprights, hinge the pad down, and lock the attachment into place with the 1” Monster detent pin.

  • 3Quality Rogue Construction

Each Hip Thruster Bench is manufactured in the USA using a 2x 4" 11-gauge steel tube welded to 1/4" thick formed end plates with a MG Black powdercoat finish. Around the tube is a U-shaped, vinyl-covered pad that measures 2.25" thick on the top and 1.5" thick on the sides—protecting the back from contact with any hard steel surfaces as you train. The pad is 41” long in total and 7” deep. The entire attachment weighs in at approx. 33.5 LBS.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Actually Makes Hip Thrusts Doable Have tried putting hip thrusters into my routine in the past, but could never get my bench set up in a good position. Either it was hard to move my Rogue Adjustable 2.0 into a position where I could brace it against something (given it's size or the fact the back and front feet are not lined up), or when using it free form, the bench still moved despite weighing 130lbs. This add on to the monster rack is just about perfect. Super sturdy once mounted, but not heavy where attaching/detaching is really that much of an issue. That being said it's not perfect. I'd like to see the mounting points be slightly improved. As is you're limited to how low you can mount it b/c of the rear nut connecting the crossmembers, this robs you of about 2". When set up at the lowest setting, the bench measures about 18" for me. Brett Contreras (the glute guy) says 16" seems to be the ideal height for most, but 13"-19" range is what's most effective based off height and preference. I would also like to see the pad better secured. It's currently only connected on a vertical bolt, but b/c the sides of the pad hang off, whenever I go to grab/move the unit, my hands tend to grab the sides and I worry I'm going to damage it somehow. That being said, I love this bench and imagine I will also be using it for single leg squats/lunges.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Definitely better than using a bench Because of my setup, I was already doing hip thrusts inside my rack, so this is a pretty natural upgrade. The pros: - No more bench sliding around. - Padding is just as good as the Rogue benches. - The detent pin is much more convenient that the pins on their monolift attachment. The cons: - At the lowest possible position, it's the same height as my bench (Rogue AB-3). If your current setup allows you to put your bench against a wall so it doesn't move, I probably wouldn't bother buying this. I don't have that option though, so this is much better than sliding around. Hopefully they make a version 2 to let it go lower (maybe 2-4 inches lower). I think that would be a significant improvement because you can always raise its spot on the rack, but there's a limit to how low it can go.
