Monster Lite Sandwich J-Cup Pair

Tested at more than 1,000 pounds, these J-Cups have a depth of 3.5” and lock around two sides of the upright--increasing the structural integrity and reducing the risk of an athlete jarring a cup loose when racking the bar from below. A UHMW plastic core sits in the center of the “sandwich” to keep the barbell as safe as the person using it.

Please Note: These accessories are designed ONLY for use with the Monster Lite Line of products. For Infinity Systems see Extra Infinity J-cup Set . For Monster Systems see Rogue Monster J-cups .

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Should replace the current "standard issue" j-cups Bought these after a couple missed re-racks started marring up the knurling on my bars and chipping the powder coating on the edges of the "standard issue" J-cups. Since using these, I have had zero problems with marking up my bars. These babies are heavy-duty, and its practically impossible to damage your bar when re-racking on these J-cups. Honestly, Rogue should make these the standard and get rid of the current J-cups that come with rigs / racks. If I had known how much better these were, I would have requested to swap them out when initially ordering my rack. The up-charge for these is well worth the cost, in my opinion.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Product, but One Suggestion When trying to move the bar side to side, to center it, sometimes the hooks will swing to the side a bit. This could be avoided by adding another bit of metal to the bottom of each hook with a hole, so that you could put one of those orange handled pins through. That is how the monolift arms attach, and it works quite well to keep them stablized.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Functions well for bench pressing I was initially confused by these j-cups and didn't think that they would work well for benching. Since the bottom of the sandwich j-cup is much lower than the standard j-cup, the safety straps have to be mounted considerably lower. For me this meant that the straps were far to low to provide any protection while bench pressing. I eventually did discover that the opposite end of the straps can be mounted several holes higher to counteract this problem. I was worried that this might cause the bar to roll onto or towards my face when I failed a lift, but this has not been the case. The only complaints I have is that the lip of the j-cup could be a bit smaller, and it would have been less confusing if the safety straps could be mounted closer to the j-cups. I would buy this product again.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not bad, but a bit bulky I bought these instead of the normal J-cups with my RML-690. I’ve now gone back and placed an order for the normal J-cups. While I like these overall, they do not play nicely with the safety straps - particularly on the bench. Even though I’m a fairly tall guy, I find I have to have the two pieces (strap and j-cup) too close together, such that I can’t remove the straps again until after I’ve moved the J-cups. They work fine for lifts where there’s more separation between the two, e.g. squats, but I really struggle with them on the bench. Quality product otherwise, though.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Essential! I bought a pair of these last month as I wanted to ensure there was no metal to metal contact with my nice barbells. They are big, heavy and well made and for me a total necessity for my rig. I like the fact that the UHMW is also on the underside of the J-Cup in case of any inadvertent contact during pressing. I like them so much that I have an ordered another set - one for bench and one for squats.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Upgrade I debated whether the $45 up-charge for these would be worth it, but I'm glad that I got them. As you can see from the picture, these are narrower than the regular j-cups. This provides a bit more clearance when re-racking the bar, which I appreciate since Monster Lite squat stands and racks are quite wide.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid These are excellent J-cups. I mean what else can one say, they're J-cups. They do their job while adding extra protection for your bar. As for people saying they "sway" too much.... I have no clue what they are doing to cause this. I mean if you have a bar on them and want to center it and just drag it..... yeah... they're rotate a bit. I mean the connection point is just a peg that goes through the rack - what do you think is going to happen. I would assume this same thing would happen with ANY J-cup as they all only attach through the rack with that one peg. I've had 0 problems with "swaying" or them not staying in the spot I want them to stay in. That said, I bought these with my 490 rack to replace the standard J-cups. I also replaced the pin/pipe safety setup for the safety straps when I ordered. With the safety straps having a little bit of metal above the connection peg to the rack coupled with these much larger J-cups..... for Bench Press I can't get the J-Cups to the hole I'd like to get them on, 1 more lower. This is because if I wanted to put it there I'd have to lower my safety strap one hole and right now that is at the PERFECT height. Also.... I'd rather have the safety there for... you know... safety reasons. So as a result, on bench I have the cups 1 hole probably too high. Makes it a bit tricky to unrack and rerack. Some would rag on this saying it's a "design flaw" and give it 1 star. Me on the other hand am rational. These work SUPERBLY for every other exercise in the rack. For bench they even work beautifully. I just can't get them to the proper level due to my safety straps. That could very well be my own anatomy's fault and not the design of this product. Still.... I'll knock off 1 star. That's only because I do feel these are excessively long. I'm currently waiting on the standard J-cups to come in the mail that I just ordered so I can do bench at a proper level. I bought them because as far as height goes, the standard ones are about half the height as the sandwich J-cups (6" tall vs. 10" tall). Also, if you look at the design of the standard ones, the backplate bends to become the hook. Look at the Sandwich J-Cups. You have the hook, but then there is a ton of metal below it..... blocking holes on your rack. So if you're looking into getting these, just be aware of that. This is ONLY with the safety strap and sandwich J-cup combination. These should be just fine if you have the pin-pipe safeties, because those don't interfere with holes above or below the one their slid into unlike the safety straps. If you have these and the Pin/pipe safeties and want to upgrade to the straps..... I'd order a pair of standard J-cups too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Replacement for bad regular J-cup These are great if you have had problems with the regular J-cups scratching your bars. Backstory: I have a ML squat stand and the stock J-cup's allen/hex bolts were not tight enough and were removing the finish and knurl from my bar. I tightened the bolts up and it seems like it might be just enough to not scrape the bar for a while, but I wanted a more sure fix. I taped some plastic you can buy on amazon over it to cover the bolts as a temporary fix until I ordered these.
