Key Features of the Rogue Olympic WL Bar

  • 1215,000 PSI Tensile Strength

Our Men’s Oly Bar is made exclusively from high-grade steel, producing a shaft with a minimum tensile strength of 215,000 PSI. Each shaft is ground and polished prior to machining (to ensure a smooth finish), and individually tested and straightened to within 0.015” (0.38mm). The goal is to create just the right amount of “whip” or “flex” needed for competitive Olympic lifting.

  • 2Friction Welded Sleeves + Needle Bearings

Using a process from the worlds of aviation and automotive manufacturing, the sleeves on the Rogue Olympic Weightlifting Bar are friction welded—creating a superior, forged-quality bond. This method is more precise than most joining techniques and helps prevent any changes in the integrity of the sleeve. Combined with 10 sets of top-quality needle bearings, the result is a barbell with a smooth, consistent, quieter spin.

  • 3Precision Machining

Every Oly Bar is machined in Columbus, Ohio, on new Haas machines that are built in the USA. For the Olympic knurl marks, we experimented with several knurling patterns before choosing the full but minimally aggressive texture that top weightlifters responded to best. Rather than relying on visibility alone, each bar is then manually tested to ensure the actual “feel” is up to Rogue standards.

  • 4A New Addition to Your Rogue Arsenal

As the leading manufacturer of American-made strength and conditioning equipment, Rogue offers a wide range of Olympic bearing bars and related gear. Along with the standard Men’s Oly WL Bar, we also offer a Stainless Steel Olympic WL Bar, the Euro 28mm Oly Bar (EU Steel and a center knurl), and the Women’s 25MM Oly Bar. You can also combine your bar with quality American-made plates, collars, and secure storage systems .

  • 5Fit and Finish

The Oly WL Bar is currently available in a Bright Zinc finish. This bar is fitted with a machined stainless steel Rogue end cap, built with precision to finish the bar.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from American made, great spin, love the knurl... Bought myself the 28MM Olympic Weightlifting barbell in chrome with center knurl as a Christmas present. First, I really appreciate the packaging and Rogue's commitment to customer satisfaction. I've used it about four times...This bar is AWESOME!! Spin on this bar is out of this world. Knurl is perfect (for me) not too aggressive / nor too passive, just a little chalk and it grips just right. My main reason for buying the Rogue Olympic barbell was the lifetime warranty and it's made in the USA!! I would highly recommend buying this bar. You will not be disappointed. Thank you Rogue!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best bar that I've owned! I've owned or own bars from Ivanko, Pendlay, York (elite comp 32000), Werksan training, and a Rogue Economy bar...have used DHS and competed on Eleikos... The Rogue WL bearing bar is AMAZING. I'm VERY impressed. I have an eye for detail and appreciate quality and precision. I also appreciate value for my money. It's obvious that these bars are made with care and great attention to detail. First thing I did was put this bar on my jerk boxes and spin the shaft while watching the ends. My york bar was warped out of the shipping container, like other bars that I won't mention. The Rogue WL was perfectly straight. Raw bar stock from the mill is never perfectly straight and the straightness is hit or miss, give or take. I may be wrong, but I believe Ivanko and Rogue are the only two U.S bar manufacturers that straighten their steel in a special machine. The difference is noticeable. The spin is very clean and precise. When warming up on cleans with just the bar tonight, I could hear the sleeves go [swiiish]. There is no side to side play. The knurl is more passive than my Werksan, but comfortable and grippy. Thanks. - Happy customer

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bought one from the boneyard! Man what a deal. I bought one of these from the boneyard. Super awesome. Spins really smooth on the bearings all the same specs as the standard bar. As a bonus in my opinion the boneyard is a raw shaft. Such a great feel you dont get from coated bars. If your on a budget and want an awesome Olympic bar get this one while they have them. Honestly I can only see (on my bar) a little bit of the knurling thats slightly and I mean slightly off. The knurling feels no different than my Castro bar and except for one little spot it looks no different. I am so glad I took a chance on this bar it exceeded all my expectation.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great bar at a great price 4.5/5 This is a great barbell that is loaded with features you'll find in bars in the upper tier/elite range. First off, I will say the only bad thing about this bar is that the knurling is a little aggressive for daily or twice a day training. The bite is somewhere in between an Eleiko Olympic WL training bar and Eleiko Olympic WL competition. With that out of the way I would say it's priced right where it should be for what it is. If Rogue had this bar IWF certified they could probably fetch another $200-$300. The bar spins evenly and freely, more so than the Eleiko Olympic WL training bar I also use frequently. The Rogue bar outclasses the competition in its price range like the Pendlay bearing, DHS training bar, and Eleiko sport training bar. Nothing wrong with these, but they do not compare in spin, finish, and customer service in one package. I would say the only bar I've trained on that comes near this is the ZKC training bar (another $120) but good luck finding one in stock. Made in the USA and from a great company, what more could you ask for? The only thing that's left is to see if the bar will last years/decades like an Eleiko since this seems like Rogue's direct competition of quality barbells.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice bar I recently purchased the "Rogue Olympic WL Bar w/ Center Knurl - Polished Chrome" bar. I've used it for a few sessions now and really like it. I'm just an intermediate lifter not advanced/elite, so my view is based that level of experience of weightlifting. The place I train at most of the time has Eleiko bars/plates so that's was I'm mostly used to. I use this bar in my own gym and purchased it due to not wanting/needing a $1k bar for my own gym. At my level the most difference I see/feel is the knurling. This Rogue bar is a touch "smoother" (it's hard to describe knurling), and I almost like it more for longer weightlifting session because it chews my hands up less. You can still grip it just fine. Actual lifting wise I really can't tell much difference from the Eleiko bar. It spins really nice and I can't really tell much difference here either. Summary- I'm glad I got this bar and if you're stressing about there being a big negative difference between certified comp bars and this bar then I wouldn't worry. In my view its a great bar for weightlifting and I'd buy it again. I can't speak to longevity at this point. Rogue also shipped it immediately and I got it in 2 days. Very happy overall.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great bar I had been training on a rogue wl bar for nearly a year before I bought my own. The bar has a tacky knurl, it spins freely, and has a fair amount of whip. It's held up well to at years worth of several people using it. The bar I bought has a center knurl which is a nice option to provide for the customers. The center knurl is very passive.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Comparable with Elieko and Uesaka bar I own a competition Uesaka, IWF certified Elieko and and Rogue zinc bar. Spin is as good as a Elieko and better than the Uesaka. Elieko has the best whip and tied with the Uesaka. Unfortunately, the zinc bar can't withstand the sweat of lifters and weather on the East coast. Therefore, involves frequent cleaning. My Elieko and Uesaka goes through the same abuse and does not need care except an occasional brush. THIS REVIEW ONLY APPLIES TO THE ZINC BAR

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Legit Bar! Purchased this bar at the 2014 Crossfit Games. It was slightly used for the weekend but it's still very new. Got an awesome price on it for the Polished Chrome version. The quality is superb. I have used many mid to high end bars from bushing to needle bearings. I've also had a chance to have a full lifting sessions with Rogue's other finish of this bar, the Bright Zinc version. Keep in mind that I was VERY hesistant on deciding on a bearing bar and after months of researching and testing other bars, I'm glad I picked the Polished Chrome version of this bar. Here's my take on it along with the responses from the people I lifted with- Rogue WL Bar (Bright Zinc Finish) - Pros- Great Whip, very quiet, good overall & quality feel, great price Cons- Knurling is a bit aggressive and I had to chalk up often. You can see from the other reviews, that some people also mention how the knurling can be a bit aggressive. The knurl can feel aggressive because of the finish but that's just my opinion. Rogue WL Bar (Polished Chrome Finish) - Pros- Great Whip, very quiet, Excellent feel on the knurling and overall bar quality. Cons- Price can seem to be expensive for those that are budgeting. While this version of the bar may seem highly priced, I'm telling you that I'm 100% happy with my purchase. Not counting the fact that I got this bar for an outstanding price, it is still worth the price it is set at. If you have the cash to get this version of the bar, you will not regret it. After testing 2 versions of this bar, the Polished Chrome version is absolutely forgiving on your hands. I used less chalk with this version than with the Bright Zinc Finish. Other bars I've tested- Pendlay 20kg Bearing and Bushing bars. Both versions have the same feel on knurling and can feel a bit aggressive but that could be because it's Bright Zinc finish. (Rogue's Bright Zinc version feels the same) You can get them on sale for a bit cheaper at times on certain holidays. Eleiko - While this is the holy grail of WL bars, it is not meant for the garage lifter or budget minded. It is perfect in a sense of feel but everyone knows that but pricing is high because you're paying for quality. American Barbell- Affordable if you can find some (Possibly Waxmans Gym) Great feel but honestly, when I look at it, it looks like a very standard barbell. This is just my preference but don't judge the quality of Rogue's WL bars based off other comments stating the knurling is aggressive. It's all personal preference. Both Rogue bars are very well made and have great responses. I was one of those doubters that waited patiently to get my hands on many bars and put each through a 2-3 hour strength session before I decided to give it a review. I did not just walk up to a display and touch it and gave it my opinion. I hope this helps other people with the same issue in deciding a bar. I was fortunate enough to test them out before purchasing. Overall the pricing Rogue has decided on the Polished Chrome version is very fair for the quality and feel of the bar. Based off pricing, feel and look of the bar, I'd have to say that it's comparable to be a very high end bar when compared to others in it's class and isn't far apart from the Eleiko bar in terms of feel. It is set to be affordable for a very high quality piece. This version also is more resistant to rust and that's a plus for some people. My hands aren't messed up after last night's session and I'm looking forward to many more training days with it.
