The Ohio Bar - Stainless Steel

The new stainless steel version of our 20KG Rogue Ohio Bar is machined and assembled in Columbus, Ohio, and features a 200,000 PSI tensile strength shaft, chrome sleeves, and an exclusive Rogue knurl pattern that’s 100% in its original, machined form for an unmatched feel.

With quality composite bushings and dual knurl marks, the Stainless Steel Ohio Bar is optimized for both Olympic lifts and Powerlifting—delivering a firm but non-abrasive grip, a consistent spin, and a unique balance of whip and rigidity.

We call it the Ohio Bar because we think it represents more than just the Rogue brand. It’s a testament to where we work, who we are, and the pride we feel in making the best weightlifting bars on the market.

Note on Stainless Steel: Barbells made from raw steel are not plated and therefore marks from the machining process may be visible.

Key Features of This Ohio Bar:

  • 1200,000 PSI Steel

This high tensile strength steel is manufactured in the USA and has proven to be one of the best steel variants for a multi-purpose barbell. Each barbell shaft is ground and polished prior to machining, allowing for a very smooth finish.

  • 2Machining

Every bar shaft is machined in Columbus, Ohio. A great deal of pride is built into each bar as the knurling process is an art. We spent months working on the knurl we believe to be the best for the Ohio Bar.

To test the knurl it is more a beer tasting process than exact measurement. There is a look and feel that go into testing every bar.

  • 3The Look & Feel of Stainless Steel

With no plating, the knurl on the Stainless Steel Ohio Bar is left exactly how we machined it, providing a great feel that cannot be achieved with other finishes. It’s similar to the knurl feel from a bare steel shaft, but with better corrosion resistance. The combination of a stainless steel shaft and chrome sleeves also creates a sharp look with few equals. Please Note: Rogue recommends using a synthetic bristle brush, NOT a steel brush, to clean a stainless steel shaft. Steel on steel can cause rusting over time. See more tips here: Bar Care & Maintenance.

  • 4Assembly

The Ohio Bar is assembled with the same black composite bushings as the Rogue Bar 2.0, which act as bearing surfaces between the bar sleeve and bar shaft. This is a very robust way of building a barbell, and can produce a smooth, consistent spin not possible with lesser import bars. Each bar comes with an “Ohio Bar Card” that has the initials of the Rogue team member that built it.

  • 5Performance

The multi-purpose Ohio Bar will have normal “whip” during Olympic weightlifting and enough stiffness to hold for heavy Powerlifting. The steel in this bar is proven as an excellent choice for weightlifters.

  • 6Fast Rogue Shipping

Rogue prides itself on fast, professional shipping. If your bar is ordered by 3PM EST Monday-Friday, it will ship same day. Your bar will be packaged safely and ship fast. You can follow the progress of your order using the Rogue Shipping Tracker.

F Scale™
The F Scale™ is a durability scale for barbells based on functional testing at stresses similar to what barbells experience when being dropped from overhead. Bars that have been treated with Rogue Work Hardening (RWH™) are designated by having an R in their F Rating™. For more information on F Scale™ click here.

Oxidation Rate
The resistance of a barbell to oxidation depends on the type of steel and the coating. Barbells at the lower end of the spectrum will require more care and maintenance to preserve their appearance than barbells at the upper end of the spectrum.

*Warranty against bending does not cover any bar which has been damaged due to negligent or faulty use, alteration, maintenance, storage or handling by the user. Negligent or faulty use includes abusive dropping of the bar (i.e., dropping the bar on a box, bench, spotter arms or pins in a power rack, excessive dropping with insufficient or damaged bumpers, or excessive dropping with iron plates, and similar usage). Any specific issues regarding a Rogue product with which a customer is not satisfied will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. We have found that most problems with bars we replace are related to abusive use rather than manufacturing or materials issues.

Whichever barbell finish you choose, Rogue has provided some helpful tips for long term Bar Care & Maintenance.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gorgeous, sturdy, inspiring. It’s greet, but I don’t get to use it much since my son and his friends always use it! The shine and rich knurling are so tough, fine, and cool... The bar just makes your work with it seem more quality. Needs to be displayed in gym to brag.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from MY GO TO BAR I have the Ohio Power Bar stainless steel which is amazing, but I decided to get the Ohio Bar stainless steel because of the 28.5 mm and I also like the whip. I like it for bench and occasional squats although it has no center knurl. The knurl is good, but I do prefer the aggressive knurl of the Ohio power bar. I went stainless steel as I didn't want high maintenance or rust, but most importantly I wanted no coating on it for optimal grip.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent investment, high quality I did a LOT of research for which bar to get. I decided the motto buy nice not twice was how I was going to furnish my gym. That being said I'm a therapist so I'm not a rich lady, but I decided the barbell was something I wasn't going to compromise on. I'm so glad I got this bar. I got the stainless steel ohio bar. I decided between this and a couple other Rogue bars as well as the Texas Power Bar. Rogue's reputation of outstanding quality and the knurling on the bar was what swayed me to buy this bar and I love it. I'll have this bar the rest of my life. I lift six days a week - outside the pandemic it'll be 4/5 days a week - my main routine involves squats/deadlifts/barbell rows/bench. This bar is excellent. I use cast iron plates and have no problems whatsoever throwing over 200 lbs onto the bar. It feels good to use and honestly I might just stay single forever because touching this bar gives me more than enough satisfaction, hah! Seriously, buy this bar. It's worth the extra money for a good bar if that's the staple of your gym and you won't have to buy a new bar ever again except if you want to - but you won't need to with this bar.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Happy I bought this bar along with the stainless steel Bella bar for my wife. We use these exact bars in our "box" daily. Needless to say, they pretty much set the standard. And from my experience, we will hopefully be handing these down to our grandchildren in the way off distant future. We are slowly comprising our home gym to have as a secondary "box" for days when our schedules make it impossible to get in for a WOD at our normal "box". And it never hurts to gear up to be self-sufficient with the uncertainty of closures and such. But there was no shopping around as to find which bar we were going to buy. These are exceptional bars with a proven record of taking tons of abuse and going the long haul.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Happy with this Bar Awesome bar! knurling is impeccable. not too coarse but very grippy at the same time. Still waiting on some plates which are on the way and I can't wait. Love the diameter and spacing of lines for hand placement. Collars and plates fit perfect and are also very well made. I've done a lot of homework on bars and plates and I think it is absolutely the best bang for your buck. Worth every penny.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Rogue bar This bar is my work horse. I managed to get a hold of a full stainless one after many months of being patient waiting. Let me tell you after having to cancel my membership to the local box from the crazy mandates. I have worked out at my at home gym. This addition is sweet. The feeling in the transition on my Olympic lifts were noticeable immediately. Thank you Rogue for making this work horse for my grueling workouts.
