C-70S Bar
Rackable Short Bar

The 15KG Rogue C-70S Bar is arguably the most unique and versatile barbell we’ve ever built, with a robust design that makes it both a compact version of our flagship 20KG Ohio Bar and a uniquely rackable version of our original C-70 short bar.

Available here with a Black Cerakote shaft finish and bright zinc sleeves, the C-70S can benefit anyone training in tight quarters, be it a small garage gym or busy training facility. The 72” shaft offers nearly 15” of space-saving efficiency compared to a full-length bar, opening up lanes for more athletes to train in the same space at the same time. In cramped home gyms, it also enables full Olympic lifting movements—including proper hand placement on the snatch grip—with more room to spare and easier storage between workouts.

Like the Ohio Bar, the American-made C-70S features dual knurl marks (with our signature Ohio knurl), quality composite bushings, and a 28.5mm diameter, 190,000 PSI steel shaft. Despite the shorter shaft length, the sleeves are also still spaced 52” apart—the same as a full-length barbell—allowing athletes to rack the bar on a standard rack and perform movements that haven’t traditionally been practical with short bars, such as the snatch and overhead squats.

To ensure long-term performance, each C-70S shaft is treated with our exclusive Rogue Work Hardening (RWH™) process, giving it superior fatigue resistance. Additionally, due to the shorter lever arm of the shorter sleeves, there is decreased stress on the shaft with each drop as compared to a bar with standard length sleeves. With these combined elements, the C-70S is our first barbell to achieve an F-Scale rating of F-16R in durability testing (learn more about the F-Scale here). This means that it should last even longer than standard-length bars in high-volume gyms.

Please Note: The C-70S weighs 15KG only with collars included.

Key Features of the C-70s Bar

  • 1Game-Changing Rackability

As perhaps the biggest feature of its design, the C-70S can be racked conveniently on most standard power racks / squat stands, dramatically improving its functional benefits over most standard short bars. Additionally, while the sleeves are shorter on this model, the 52” of spacing between them is the same as a full-length barbell, allowing athletes to perform movements that haven’t traditionally been practical with short bars, such as the snatch and overhead squats. It should be noted that the 8.875” of loadable sleeve length is roughly half that of the Ohio Bar (16.4”) and slightly less than the original non-rackable C-70 Bar (12”). There is no center knurl, and the Rogue logo is included in the center of the shaft as part of the Cerakote finish.

  • 2A History Tied to the CrossFit Games

The “S” in the bar’s name literally stands for “Snatch,” and refers to its origins at the 2014 CrossFit Games, when narrow competition lanes in the snatch event required a new type of short bar design. The standard width between sleeves gave the feel of a normal barbell, but the shorter sleeves allowed for athletes to work in much closer proximity to each other while also maximizing the number of athletes per heat. The C-70S would ultimately be used at each subsequent CrossFit Games for six years running.

  • 3Space-Saving Efficiency

The advantages of a short bar go well beyond competition lanes. In large gyms, the design of the C-70S allows more athletes to train simultaneously, and in a cramped garage gym, the shorter shaft (72” vs the 86.75” of a full-length Ohio Bar) enables full Olympic lifting movements—including proper hand placement on the snatch grip—with more room to spare and easier storage between workouts.

  • 4F-16R Durability Rating

Like the full-length Ohio Bar, the C-70S is manufactured in the USA and equipped with dual knurl marks, quality composite bushings, and a 28.5mm, 190,000 PSI tensile strength steel shaft. Each shaft is treated with our exclusive Rogue Work Hardening (RWH™) process for superior fatigue resistance. With its short sleeves, there is also significantly less stress put on the shaft on each drop. As a result, the C-70s scores a rating of F-16R in F-Scale durability testing, the highest mark of any barbell we’ve tested.

  • 5Cerakote Shaft Finish

All of our Rogue C-70S Bars feature a Black Cerakote shaft finish. Widely used by firearm manufacturers for its durability in thin applications, this ceramic-based coating can offer superior abrasion, wear, and corrosion resistance over time—up to 100x that of traditional black zinc.

F Scale™
The F Scale™ is a durability scale for barbells based on functional testing at stresses similar to what barbells experience when being dropped from overhead. Bars that have been treated with Rogue Work Hardening (RWH™) are designated by having an R in their F Rating™. For more information on F Scale™ click here.

Oxidation Rate
The resistance of a barbell to oxidation depends on the type of steel and the coating. Barbells at the lower end of the spectrum will require more care and maintenance to preserve their appearance than barbells at the upper end of the spectrum.

*Warranty does not cover any bar which has been damaged due to negligent or faulty use, alteration, maintenance, storage or handling by the user. Negligent or faulty use includes abusive dropping of the bar (i.e., dropping the bar on a box, bench, spotter arms or pins in a power rack, excessive dropping with insufficient or damaged bumpers, or excessive dropping with iron plates, and similar usage). Any specific issues regarding a Rogue product with which a customer is not satisfied will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. We have found that most problems with bars we replace are related to abusive use rather than manufacturing or materials issues.

Rogue C-70S Bar is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 12.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fits in my condo This bar feels really good and is so much easier in a small space. I have to do some math when calculating my weight (minus 5kg) but you can put 3 plates on each side, so it big enough. Love it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Even better than my Ohio! I have been waiting for this bar to come out for months and because I already own the Ohio bar I had to justify this purchase. Well Ohio is better for Landmine with that HUGE 16+ in sleeve. Other than that it's gonna be my 2nd favorite bar, the c-70 "snatch" is my new favorite. The picture below shows how many plates you can fit if you buy steel slim style designs. (2 inner green are 10k outer is 25lb) this is easily capable of handling 500+ lbs, 400lbs pictured, and with those half sized sleeves it's easier to walk around and load weight in a cramped garage and lifting it out of the vertical holder is 10lb easier which is much appreciated in the early morning before my first lift. This bar is also for the kids and wife. 35lb is not only easier to use but way easier getting it on the hooks to begin with. Easy set up. Now about easy use. Warm up sets bug me. I hate putting on 35s or 25s just to take them off in 1 or 2 sets to then remove them to put on a 45lb plate for all remaing sets. Well this BAR IS 35LB so I can start with my 45lb plate and it's only 125 lb! I do have the competition collars that are 5kg so if i use those it's normal 45lb bar math if I choose. The knurl is the amazing Ohio volcano style & cerakote is like having a bar chalked up all the time dry. 5 stars and honestly if it existed last year I may have never met Mr Ohio bar!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Small space life saver I have been building out a home gym for a little over a year now. I started out with a Rogue Ohio Power bar and it is great! The only issue is my space is quite limited in the room I train in. For bench, squat, deadlift the Ohio bar is great even with my limited space since those are fairly simple, slow, controlled movements. I more recently started working on OLY lifts (Primarily snatch) and realized my focus was always more on the fear of hitting something with my bar than the actual lift itself. I went looking for a shorter alternative to use for my weightlifting training and found this bar and it did NOT disappoint at all. It has been a life saver allowing me to practice snatches even in a small space without having to worry about hitting anything. If you train in a small space like me then this is your bar. You won't regret adding it to your collection.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for the middle aged CrossFitter Having a rackable, short sleeved bar is perfect. This is a great compromise for the ladies in the house too. I add change plates to get the 'missing 10lbs' from not buying an Ohio Bar. Now I am eyeing the 25lb version for the gals around my house.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great multi purpose bar Great 2nd barbell to have. I got a Boneyard- bare steel shaft and either zinc or bare sleeves. Also brass bushings which i prefer over the composite anyway. I love it! The knurling is exactly like my stainless steel Ohio bar, matter of fact I sold that after I got the C70s. I wish they made this bar in either bare or stainless steel for the knurling. This would be great on their curl bars! Anyway, I can load up to 395lbs on it and deadlift it, with virtually zero flex in the bar. If you have calibrated plates it will be even more. I like how how stiff the bar is, it doesn't bounce on squat or bench and is solid on deadlifts. It is better than the Ohio for me because of my cramped space, the sleeves are easier to load being 8 more inches from the wall and truck. The spin is fantastic. Only improvement I could add would be a center knurl. And stainless steel version.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Home Bar for Beginners Weighing in at about 32 lb. without collars (15 kg with collars), the C-70S could be the perfect home bar. Many consider the Rogue Ohio Bar to be the perfect 20 kg (44 lb.) bar. Prior to purchasing the C-70S, I seriously considered the Ohio Bar in either stainless steel or Cerakote finish. I also thought carefully about buying the Matt Chan bar, for its center knurl. But after weighing all the options, I concluded the C-70S is the best combination of features/trade-offs relative to my needs. Especially when coupled with the uniquely sturdy Rogue 10 lb. urethane bumpers (pictured), the C-70S can serve a secondary purpose as a compact technique bar with room to grow. Go ahead and buy this bar, and I suggest you pick up a pair of Rogue USA Aluminum collars while you are at it. The pictured combination of C-70S, 10 lb. urethane bumpers and aluminum collars weighs in at 52.6 lb. For me, this relatively light weight of this C-70S setup is a pro, not a con. For example, I am working on deadlift form before I start to progress to heavier loaded weights. If you’ve read this far, you probably already realize the C-70S is rackable with standard dual markings and standard length between the sleeves. So other than shorter sleeves, it’s a Rogue Ohio Bar. And with the Cerakote shaft and bright zinc sleeves I maintain the option to use my C-70S bar outside or in a garage. For now, my C-70S works well inside my house, where the short length and maneuverability is a major pro. I can easily move the C-70S around between rooms and stand it up in a closet. I don’t have to worry about space considerations, the C-70S will work well anywhere in my house or garage where I might eventually put a power rack. If you decide to go with a full-sized bar instead, I encourage you to measure and plan your home gym more carefully and realize it might be more awkward loading heavy bumpers/plates onto a full-sized bar in the often tight quarters of a home gym. So you might want to know much weight can the C-70S hold? Over 300 lbs. To prove this to yourself, head on over to the “comparison of short barbells” at “Fitness Test Lab” where the C-70S was named best short bar overall. From their comparison review, follow the link to the full review of the C-70S, where you will see an image showing 70 kg per sleeve of urethane kg bumpers with one each of red, blue, yellow and green. That’s over 340 lb. (155 kg) total, with the sleeves full (if perhaps slightly overloaded). Note: I’m not sure one could quite simultaneously fit Rogue urethane lb bumpers in red, blue, yellow and green as the lb bumpers are a little thicker than kg. To share my plan: as I get stronger, I intend to pair the C-70S with the following Rogue Urethane Bumper Plates: 10, 25, 45, 55 lb. (skipping the yellow 35). These 4 plates along with the USA aluminum collars will all simultaneously fit the C-70S 8.875” sleeves, giving 135 lb per sleeve, or just over 300 lb. loaded in total. That’s more weight than I will probably ever need. Note: I also have and plan to use Urethane Change plates (10, 5, 2.5 lbs.) from the 6-Shooter Series. I like the Urethane plate options as they should last a lifetime. So I conclude that the C-70S and Urethane plates is probably the only home gym bar+plates I will ever need, and maybe the same is true for you too. Check your ego at the door relative to the light weight of the C-70S and instead enjoy the practicality of this bar. The way I see it, start with the C-70S and if your strength progresses to a point where you need the option to go heavier, then you’ve justified treating yourself to the purchase of a full size bar.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great bar! This is my new favorite bar for deadlifts and some Landmine exercises. I'm 70 and weigh 132. I love the shorter sleeves on C-70S - they are still plenty long for loading up my top weight for any lift. Everything else about this bar is perfect.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect bar! I bought this 6 ft Olympic bar to use with my power rack and to save some space. The bar is perfect, and is very easy to handle. The packaging was perfect and I couldn’t be happier!
