Iceland has produced more than its fair share of world class CrossFit competitors, but even among these ranks, Rogue athlete Ragnheiður Sara Sigmundsdottir has made a unique and memorable impact.
By the age of 24, this 2017 Worldwide Open winner had already managed a pair of Meridian Regional titles, a victory in her debut at the U.S. Central Regional, and three Top 5 finishes at the CrossFit Games (3rd in 2015 and 2016, 4th in 2017). She was favored by many to return to the podium in 2018 until a rib injury forced her to withdraw halfway through Saturday’s action. “Sometimes things are unfair and don’t go as planned,” she posted to social media afterward. “One thing is for sure, I’ll be back!” As promised, Sara looked back to full form at the inaugural Rogue Invitational in 2019, finishing second overall in a performance that had the fans in Columbus on their feet.
